Thought-leadership Piece:

Living Fit, Depends on What You Sip
Imagine consuming 14 teaspoons of sugar, more than the American Heart Association’s recommended daily intake, right before hitting the gym. Do you think your workout will be successful? Or will you crash like a 6-year-old who ate too much candy on Halloween? It might seem obvious not to consume high amounts of sugar if you want to have a productive workout. Still, with the high sugar content in some of the most popular energy drinks (not naming names) that are supposed to fuel you, many people consume double the recommended sugar before putting on their sneakers. Right now, most added sugar comes from sugary drinks like sodas, fruit drinks, sports drinks, and, you guessed it, energy drinks. With all these hidden added sugars in energy drinks, is it any wonder that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that 3 in 5 Americans ages two and older consume more than the daily recommended amount of added sugars? As a result of this sugar overconsumption, the CDC has reported that Americans are suffering from weight gain and obesity, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and tooth decay. That is why the energy drink industry needs a change. Isn’t that the whole point of an energy drink: to help you be more productive and live a longer, healthier life? So, shouldn’t energy drinks be part of the solution and not the problem? Well, that is where Celsius comes in.
When Celsius began in April 2004, 21 years ago, we wanted to lead a fitness revolution, showing people how to lose fat and burn calories by drinking something that still tastes good. We set the standards so high that Celsius is still the only proven energy drink for weight loss and burning fat. So, what’s our secret recipe? For starters, no sugar (As we’ve established, it’s terrible for you!), no Aspartame, no high fructose corn syrup, and no artificial colors or flavors. Instead, you can find green tea, EGCG, caffeine, guarana seed extract, taurine, ginger root, and seven essential vitamins. These key ingredients boost your body’s heat production and, in turn, your metabolism. This means that even if you drink one Celsius before a moderate workout, you’ll not only be able to fight fatigue and last longer, but you’ll also be closer to reaching your fat-burning goals. But you don’t have to take my word for it. Celsius is backed by science. Six university studies have proven that Celsius boosts metabolism, improves endurance, and helps burn fat.
For too long, we’ve overlooked that what you drink is just as important as what you eat regarding health and performance. If we want to achieve the high standards we set for ourselves, giving our bodies the proper fuel they need is non-negotiable. It has become too normalized that it is okay to load ourselves with sugar and ingredients we didn’t know how to pronounce, only to crash. It’s time to stop settling. If you want to live fit, it starts with what you sip.
